Georges Barboteu, Horn
Georges Barboteu (b. 1924) was born in Algeria where his father was
horn professor at the Conservatoire d'Algiers. Beginning in 1948 he played
in the French Orchestre National, Opéra-comique and Paris Opera. From 1953
until 1961 Barboteu was a member of the Société des Concerts du
Conservatoire. In 1967 he became principal horn of the Orchestre de Paris
until 1989. |
Frederic Duvernoy (1765 - 1838) was one the great French hand horn
virtuosi. The Concerto No. 5 represents his "cor mixte" style of playing
keeping to the middle register of the F horn. |
